Sekhem

Sekhem is an ancient Egyptian healing system taught as part of the spiritual practices in the high temples. It is very similar to Reiki, in that it is channeled through the hands of the practitioner, working on all levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual; accelerating our personal development and elevating our vibrational frequency. 

Healing with the hands, where energy passes through the healer and into the patient’s energy field and body, has been used for centuries to improve people’s health. 

All life generates an energy field around it. The physical body and the different layers of the energy field are connected by the chakras, rotating energy centres. Each of these centres is connected to a particular layer in the energetic body and to specific organs, glands and systems in the physical body. They also relate to a person’s psychological patterns, such as our self-esteem, relationships with our friends and family, our ability to show unconditional love and our willingess to express our feelings. 

Sekhem healing is considered the forerunner of all spiritual hands-on healing systems. It is associated with the Egyptian lion-headed goddess, Sekhmet, the guardian and protector of this healing energy. Sekhmet’s name comes from the ancient Egyptian word sekhem, meaning “power” or “might”. She was the patron of physicians and healers and her priests were thought to be the most skilled doctors. She is strongly linked with Sirius, the brightest star in the sky. She is the patroness of both war and of the healing and regenerative sciences.
