Remember when we were children and the world was full of possibilities?

Everything was new, interesting, we were curious, open, creative, and innocent. Well, that child, that little girl or boy, is still inside of you right now. Let’s bring them out for a second and tap into that beginner-like state of mind. We are going to ask that beautiful inner child of yours what life they want for themselves. Just as if they were a 5-year-old being asked what they wanted to be when they were older. Cut all the cords, the judgment, let the responsibilities go and speak from that authentic, childlike place.

Reconnecting with Your Inner Child

Get a pen and paper or a laptop handy. Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths as you relax your body and clear your mind.

Imagine yourself waking up on a beautiful, sunny day. You’re a full-grown adult, you’re smiling, you feel good, you slowly get out of bed to start your morning routine. In this amazing life, what does that morning routine look like? Write down all the activities you do from beginning to end. Create every moment, the exact routine you want to wake up to every single day.

Crafting Your Ideal Morning Routine

Once you’re done with your morning routine, you’re all dressed and ready to take on the world, you go to grab your keys, and as you head out the door, you take one last look into your home. What does that space look like? What does it feel like? What does it smell like? Write down everything that comes to mind and the way you feel in that moment.

Creating Your Dream Environment

As you head out the door and feel the warm sunshine on your skin, today, just like every day, you are going to be of service to the world. What does that look like to you? How are you going to give in order to grow? What passions, talents, or services are you going to utilize and provide? What’s going to feed your soul?

Finding Your Purpose through Service

Now, whom are you going to provide this service to? Whose needs will be met by your awesomeness? Will you be doing this alone or have you enlisted others? If so, who are they? Colleagues, volunteers, family members, and/or friends? What role do they play? How do they help?

Building a Supportive Network

Now look back and reflect on what you wrote. You have a gift to deliver to this world. This unique gift that only you can provide is your calling, it’s why you’re here. If you don’t provide this gift, no one else will be able to, only you can. Just like a singer provides their unique voice, an inventor their invention, you have been placed here to discover and deliver your special gift to the world. If the answer is still a little fuzzy, keep at it, meditate on it, journal your thoughts, and remember your purpose has been presented to you over and over again, it’s time to acknowledge and own it.
